Clarity

Pearl

~*~*~

A smile, a silent sigh, a whisper
Scarcely tied to this train of thought
The echo remains hanging, unattended
Songs litter the ground with their voice
The earth seeps up to the surface
While the glass half full tips over and falls
An eternity comes to an end
But ultimately remains unresolved.

A shiver, a song, an unfitting word
Too strong, too soft, but never unheard
Bells from the past ring in the future to come
Time flies in circles, moving but becoming undone
Déjà vu encumbers every breath taken
Solitude comes and goes, forever forsaken
The meaning of words are scrambled and lost
Feelings are broken, struck out and crossed.

A single swing, a slither, an emotion
Wrapped up in the remains of a notion
Lingers on in the touch of destruction
Forgotten lies the most critical instruction
Swallowed up by the lips of an oyster
Only to leave behind the shadow of a white pearl
Its purity comes seeping through the deep sea
Replacing the fogginess with a sense of clarity.

  1. I took a breath as I began to read the words, and didn’t realise I was holding it in whilst reading, … Wonderful, just wonderful, you played with my mind, and didn’t let go ’til the end. xPenx

  2. Only to leave behind the shadow of a white pearl
Its purity comes seeping through the deep sea
Replacing the fogginess with a sense of clarity.

Well, I’m absolutely speechless here. To say I like it, won’t be enough … I’m impressed! I love the idea of white pearl and its clarity erasing the sad feeling of an eternity gone. Beautiful S., so beautiful!

  3. Wonderful!!!! This stanza in particular …

A shiver, a song, an unfitting word
Too strong, too soft, but never unheard
Bells from the past ring in the future to come
Time flies in circles, moving but becoming undone
Déjà vu encumbers every breath taken

  7. DP,

this poem reassures that amidst the fogginess in one’s life events, a clear truth will eventually resurface. i think you mean about the pearl of experience, when in this life’s course of irritable events, we find ourselves just walking along a way that is uniquely ours. i love the thought you put in this. such a mastery that only you can deliver.
