Impossibilities

Night Sky

~*~*~

The earth cast a shadow on the moon,
Cutting off the light from the sun,
And the night sky was so dark,
Dotted with a million glowing orbs,
So far away, yet so close.

Drink in the shadows, dear friend,
The earth is lonely in its might,
Always reaching out from the start of time,
For the furthest stretches of eternity,
Longing for these stars so far away.

There is no love where warmth cannot reach,
Yet the light does reach the earth.
It is the Pole star which caught the earth off her guard,
Shining brightest of all in the night sky,
Calling out to her heart.

The dance of the stars in the night sky,
Sung songs of old times,
Telling the earth how she must first,
Learn to touch the sky,
Before dreaming of stars so high above.

And the earth in her longing grew weary,
Shutting out the sky with her clouds,
Always weeping these tears,
Yet never letting herself be heard,
By the star she dearly loved.

Yet there is still hope…

Stars do not fall down to earth,
Except at the horizon,
Where the earth touches the sky,
Embracing it with all its might,
Realizing there are no impossibilities.

The above has been submitted for Monday Poetry Potluck hosted by Amanda and Kavita!

Also apologies, but Love and Romance is just not my thing but I wanted to write according to the theme this time anyways. The above is probably a pretty lame and very raw poem, but it is the best a heartless creature like me can do. šŸ˜›

  1. The dance of the stars in the night sky,
    Sung songs of old times,
Telling the earth how she must first,
    Learn to touch the sky,
Before dreaming of stars so high above.

This was so lyrical…it was moving. Well done!

    D

  2. If you believe this is lame then I am a lame-o!

This poem transcends our normal mundane reality…Its almost as if you are writing a new Living Myth …which we are so in need of these days.

Joseph Cambell would talk about the emergence of personal myth and the need for a shift that brings about a new living myth in our current world…

I dont make sense do I?

Well, there are layers to this piece on a deep, collective level…I DIG IT!!!

  3. I think we have a lot to learn from our celestial friends.. Me likes the way you brought across certain realities, DP… realities which we pretend do not exist! But we know very well that, acceptance is the first step to happiness… and who knows, love too..

So yes, nothing is, in fact, impossible.. as long as we believe..
After all, there is a line (albeit a very fine one) between believing and being overly optimistic! šŸ™‚

Your poem is simply beautiful, my dear!!
Now, all this star talk makes me wanna request you to read this one by me: So far, yes so far šŸ™‚ Hope you like it..
